Administrative Support Specialist
Beth currently assists the SERVE Center’s Operations Department, and the Division of Continual Learning with its online workshops and summer camps.
She previously worked with the SERVE Center in the National Center for Homeless Education (NCHE) where she provides technical assistance to state coordinators of homeless education for children and youth experiencing homelessness. In this capacity, Beth compiles and maintains longitudinal information pertaining to the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act, the first major federal legislative response to the issue of homelessness. Additionally, Beth coauthored a book about virtual libraries in the Southeast for SERVE's Technology and Learning Program.
Beth began working at the SERVE Center part-time in 1998 and began working fulltime at the SERVE Center in January 2000.
Beth holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of North Carolina (UNC) at Charlotte and a Master of Library and Information Studies from UNC at Greensboro.
In her off time, Beth can be found pursuing her love for old-time stringband music by playing guitar at contra dances and fiddler conventions and performing concerts. Beth also enjoys reading, travel, and bargain shopping.
