Director, National Center for Homeless Education (NCHE)
George serves as the Interim Executive Director of the SERVE Center at UNCG, as well as, the Director of the National Center for Homeless Education at the SERVE Center. In this capacity, as Interim Executive Director of the SERVE Center, George provides leadership to the organization to expand its work in: conducting educational research and evaluations; synthesizing and disseminating results; and providing technical assistance to SEAs, LEAs, IHEs, schools, and the U.S. Department of Education.
As Director of the National Center for Homeless Education, he works in the areas of training, technical assistance, document development, webinars, conference and meeting planning and hosting, staff coordination and supervision, and policy review. As a result of his experience as a school, district, and State level administrator in North Carolina, George also supports projects related to both school improvement and educational leadership.
George began at the SERVE Center in July 2015. Prior to his arrival, he spent 22 years serving the public schools of North Carolina as a teacher, principal, Federal programs administrator, and State Coordinator for School Improvement Grants (SIG) at the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction.
George holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, a Master of Education from Campbell University, and a Master of School Administration from Campbell University.
George enjoys traveling with his family to the beach and mountains of North Carolina and has a love for sports and activities including basketball, skiing, and hiking.
